What We Grow
Sweet Potato

Native to the tropical American region, sweet potato (Ipomoea batata) is grown all around the world for its large, starchy, sweet-tasting tuberous roots with high nutritional value. Sweet potatoes are a rich source of fiber, containing an array of essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin B, potassium, calcium and other nutrients with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Although typically recognized by their vibrant orange flesh, there are hundreds of varieties grown worldwide that display colors such as white, cream, yellow, reddish-purple, and deep purple. At Semig, we grow four conventional and organic varieties of sweet potato: Beauregard, Bushbuck, Purple Moth and Mesu Yaki.

Cassava

Cassava, also known as yuca, is a starchy tuberous root native to South America and extensively cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. A major source of carbohydrates, cassava is a staple ingredient of many diets worldwide. Cassava is a versatile, flavorful food that contains significant amounts of several nutrients, including calcium and vitamin C. At Semig, we grow conventional and organic varieties of cassava: Señorita and Valencia
